Hepatic Lipid Metabolism and Herbal Impacts on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Dysregulation of hepatic lipid metabolism is one of the most important causal events of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD). The balance between lipogenesis and lipolysis achieved through pharmacological intervention is proven to effectively ameliorate NAFLD induced liver injury in both pre-clinical studies and clinical trials. In recent years, treatment of NAFLD using herbal derivatives receives wide attention because they effectively restore normal functions on several key pathological events during NAFLD progression with minimal adverse effects when taken in a suggested reasonable dose.
