Effect of Farmyard Manure and Inorganic Nitrogen on Yield and Nutrition Uptake of Kale (Brassica oleracea var. acephala) and Different forms of Inorganic Nitrogen under Eutrochrepts

An experiment was conducted during 2010 and 2011 to study the effect of different levels of farmyard manure and inorganic nitrogen on yield, nutrient uptake of kale and different forms of inorganic nitrogen builtup under eutrochrepts The treatment consisted of four levels of FYM (0, 15, 30 and 45 t ha-1) and four levels of inorganic nitrogen (0, 45, 90 and 135 kg ha-1) .Results indicated that leaf yield, N, P and K uptake by kale increased with the increase in rate of application of FYM and inorganic nitrogen individually as well as in various combinations. A treatment combination of 45 t FYM ha-1 and 135 kg N ha-1 produced highest leaf yield which was at par with F45N90, F30N135 and F30N90. Addition of FYM & inorganic nitrogen significantly enhance ed the available N, total N, NH4 + - N and NO3 - -N and available P and K and F45N135 treatment registered the highest value of these parameters in post-harvest soil.
